Our Beers

For the uninitiated, free samples are always available, and our staff are always available to offer tasting notes and make suggestions. Find Chris if you want to argue about the case for or against sparklers, swan necks, size of heads and the perfect cellar temperature. We are always open to suggestions for interesting future guest ales, and our bitters can be served in traditional handled ‘dimple’ pint glasses on request.
CAMRA members are always especially welcome at The Lamb – please make sure you say hello when you visit us. We are already listed in the Good Beer Guide. A future aim is to achieve the CAMRA Pub of The Season. We will be holding The Lamb’s first beer festival in 2010 – watch this space.
We hold the Cask Marque accreditation and various qualifications in good cellar-keeping, and pride ourselves on serving the perfect pint - taste, presentation, temperature. No pints of flat dishwater here!
We serve three regular beers, plus an additional guest ale, and are adding more handpumps all the time. Recent and forthcoming guest selections from around the country include Jennings Cumberland Ale, Black Sheep Bitter, Adnams Bitter, Loddon Ferryman's Gold, Rin Tin Tin and Hullabaloo, Gales HSB, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, West Berkshire Brewery Mr Chubb's Lunchtime Bitter & Good Old Boy, Theakston Best Bitter, Tetley Bitter, Batemans Bitter, St Peter's Bitter, Oxfordshire Brewery Marshmellow and many more.

Black Sheep Bitter
Masham, Yorkshire
A well hopped, light golden best bitter with a distinctive, dry, refreshing taste, enjoyed through a rich creamy head. England’s most requested guest ale, but always available at The Lamb!
ABV 3.8% £3.20
All these beers are served at cellar temperature of approximately 10 degrees for maximum flavour, and come in large 500ml bottles unless specified. Please ask for food matching suggestions – we can even bring you a different beer for every course!
These bottled beers all come to us directly from the craft St Peter’s Brewery in Suffolk, with the exception of the award-winning Ferryman’s Gold from Loddon – the closest brewery to The Lamb, just a couple of miles away. All bottles are available to take away for your enjoyment at home, with a discount of 25% for the purchase of any six or more.
ST. PETER’S MILD ABV 3.7% £3.75
A classic example of a beer mild in hops but not in flavour. Sweetness balanced by bitter chocolate malt to produce a rare but much sought after traditional dark Mild.
ST. PETER’S RUBY RED ALE ABV 4.3% £3.75
A tawny red ale with subtle malt undertones and a distinctive spicy hop aroma from Cascade. Ruby Red won a Silver Medal at the SIBA East Anglian Beer Festival in 2004
LODDON FERRYMAN’S GOLD (Dunsden Green, Oxfordshire) ABV 4.4% £3.75 Golden, smooth body with masses of zesty, aromatic Styrian Golding hops. A great introduction to bitter if you normally drink lager and are considering a switch to the other side!
ST. PETER’S ORGANIC ALE ABV 4.5% £4.00
Water is extracted from a 300’ deep borehole and combined with Soil Association accredited light malted barley from Norfolk. Organic hops provide the distinctive palate. Delicate, clean and crisp.
ST. PETER’S FRUIT BEER (GRAPEFRUIT) ABV 4.7% £4.50
Wheat Beer is the base for this superbly refreshing beer. The zesty/pithy grapefruit is in complete harmony with the hops and malt. Excellent as an apéritif or as a refreshing change. Winner of numerous CAMRA and overseas awards.
ST. PETER’S OLD STYLE PORTER ABV 5.1% £4.50
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale and a younger light beer – just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.
ST. PETER’S INDIA PALE ALE ABV 5.5% £4.50
Traditionally highly hopped and robust to survive the long voyage to the Indian sub-continent. The result is a full bodied Pale Ale with a zesty character. Featured at Number 1 position in Independent newspaper ‘Top 50 Beers’ in 2007.
ST. PETER’S CREAM STOUT ABV 6.5% £4.50
‘Fuggles’ and ‘Challenger’ hops plus a blend of 4 local barley malts create an aromatic, strong, dark chocolate cream stout with a satisfying bittersweet aftertaste.
Lager, Guiness and Cider
For those more worldly-wise in the lager world, our carefully selected draught continental lagers represent the best of their standard and premium categories. We also offer draught Guinness, and Aspalls Suffolk Cyder.
